The capital of the state of Karnataka, Bangalore is situated halfway between the coasts in southern India. The city was founded in the 16th century, and witnessed great southern dynasties like the Kadambas, the Hoysalas and Vijayanagar emperors. Legend goes that King Veeraballa of Vijayanagara once lost his way in forest. Hungry and tired, he came upon a lone hut in the thick forest where he met an old woman. When he asked for food, she gave him baked beans ('Benda Kalu' in Karnataka).The King found this humble meal taste better than the richest fare. To commemorate this incident, he called the place "Benda KaluOoru" (place of baked beans).

VidhanaSoudha
The style of architecture is completely Indian .There are four domes on all the four corners. Four headed lions stand tall at the main entrance, which symbolize the Indian sovereignty. It is a tribute to temple architecture .it comprises of 300 rooms and 22 departments. The VidhanaSoudha is one of Bangalore's most important buildings.
The Bangalore Palace
Inspired by Windsor castle and built in Tudor style way back in 1880 at the cost of a staggering 1 million (Indian Rupee) which is as big as 45000 sqft is one of the main tourist attractions in Bangalore. Surrounded by gardens on all four sides this palace would make the richest of kings a proud owner.
The Bull Temple
This temple, built by KempeGowda, houses the magnificent stone statue of the sacred bull, Nandi. It stands over 15 feet tall and is over 20 feet long. At the end of every year, when the groundnuts have been harvested, a groundnut fair is held near the temple.The first groundnuts are offered by the farmers to the sacred bull.
Lalbagh (Red Garden)
As the name suggests Lalbagh is famous for the botanical garden which showcases native species of plants and a wide variety of exotic plants. The greenhouse is supposedly based on London's Crystal Palace. You won't regret traveling to the southern part of Bangalore to see the spectacular Botanical garden which is spread over acres of land.
Jumma Masjid
The Jumma Masjid is probably the oldest mosque in the city. It is an imposing structure with tall ornamented granite pillars adorning the elevated prayer hall. The whole section of devote Muslim worshippers visit this masjid regularly and place is mobbed during the annual festivals of the Muslims. Ulsoor Lake
A picturesque lake with several tree-shaded islands in it is an ideal picnic spot. Ulsoor boasts of a boating club which is an active club. The only time it does not functioning is in the monsoon due to safety reasons. Nearby is the largest Gurudwara (Sikh shrine) in Bangalore.
