Prize Money Rules
- 1. Prize Money is applicable only for the Marathon and Half Marathon race categories as per the rules given hereunder. Click here to view the Prize Money Structure
2. Marathon race category:
a. Only confirmed marathon runners starting their race at 7.20 a.m. will be entitled to be considered for prize money given in Chart I and II of prize money structure, if falling within the prize money winning positions.
b. Any runner (falling under 2(a) above), Indian or international, who is one of the top overall marathon finishers, will be entitled to prize money stated in Chart I. The first 10 Indian marathon finishers who do not finish in the top overall marathon finishers, will be entitled to prize money in Chart II. However, where an Indian runner finishes as one of the top overall marathon finishers, he/she will receive prize money stated either in Chart I or Chart II, whichever is HIGHER. In the instance of an Indian runner availing of the higher prize money amount from Chart II, there will be NO CHANGE in the overall finishing positions in Chart I, the overall finishing positions remain the same.
c. Only confirmed marathon runners falling within the age groups given below, and starting their race at 5.40 a.m. will be entitled to be considered for prize money in Chart IV, V, VI and VII respectively of the prize money structure.

d. Marathon runners confirmed as Elite runners must start their run at 7.20 a.m. In case an Elite marathon runner, whether Indian or international, starts his/her race at 5.40 a.m., his/her participation in the Event will stand as disqualified.
e. Marathon runners confirmed in the open, veteran, senior veteran and super veteran age categories must start their race at 5.40 a.m. Where they start their race at 7.20 a.m., they forego their rankings and prize money entitlement under the respective age categories.
f. The cut-off of finish times for prize money entitlement for the marathon race category is 6 hours from respective start times.
g. Finish positions of the marathon overall and top Indian finishers for prize money entitlement under Chart I and Chart II will be based on gun time alone.
h. Finish positions of the open, veteran, senior veteran and super veteran finishers for prize money entitlement under Chart IV, Chart V, Chart VI and Chart VII will be based on respective net finish times only.
3. Marathon Course Record Jackpot [Chart A(III)]:
a. Jackpot for top overall marathon finishers The JACKPOT will be divided up to a maximum of three athletes finishing sub 2:09:32 (Men, 2:09:31 or faster) / 2:24:33 (Women, 2:24:32 or faster).
b. Jackpot for top overall Indian marathon finishers The JACKPOT will be divided up to a maximum of three athletes finishing sub 2:16:59 (Men, 2:16:58 or faster) / 2:53:35 (Women, 2:53:34 or faster).
4. Half Marathon race category:
a. Only those Half Marathon runners, who finish within 3 hours from the start time and who fall within the finish positions as indicated in the Prize Money Structure, will be entitled to prize money in their respective categories.
b. Finish positions of the half marathon overall category for prize money entitlement will be based on the gun time alone.
c. Finish positions of the half marathon veteran, senior veteran and super veteran finishers for prize money entitlement shall be based on respective net finish times only.
d. In case a half marathon veteran winner (based his/her net time) falls within the half marathon overall finish positions based on his/her gun time, he/she will retain the winning position of the relevant age category. However, he/she will be entitled to the higher prize money.
- 5. Runners crossing the start line after the timings given below will not be entitled to rankings or prize money -
a. Marathon runners starting the race at 7.20 a.m. crossing the start line after 7.25 a.m.
b. Marathon runners starting their race at 5.40 a.m. crossing the start line after 6.10 a.m.
c. Half Marathon runners starting their race at 6.00 a.m. crossing start line after 6.30 a.m.
- 6. In addition to the above, entitlement to finish positions and Prize Money winnings are subject to -
a. Chip timing captured across all timing points on the course, including at the start and finish mats,
b. Physical verification by technical officials, and
c. Dope test results (applicable only for the marathon top overall and top Indian marathon finishers).
- 7. Runners found to have interchanged their running number bib and bib tag with others, will be disqualified from the competition. Such runners shall not be entitled to any timing or prize money (where applicable).
- 8. Prize winners declared may be required, at the sole discretion of the organizers, to submit additional documents and/or declarations for disbursement of prize money.
- 9. Winners from India will receive prize money equivalent in Indian Rupees calculated at the applicable exchange rate. Similarly winners from overseas will receive prize money equivalent in U S Dollars calculated at the applicable exchange rate.
- 10. Prize Money and Jackpot winnings are subject to applicable Indian Income Tax Rules, and the same would be borne by the winner.
11 Protests and Appeals:
A] Only with respect to results of Marathon Elite (overall and Indian) finish positions and Half Marathon Overall finish positions (elite races):
a. The athlete and/or his/her representative can appeal to the Technical Delegate in relation to the official race results declared, in writing, within 30 minutes of the official announcement of the results on race day, of relevant race category. Results will be put up at the men elite athlete tent at the Marathi Patrakar Sangh, MahapalikaMarg, Mumbai.
b. The protest letter needs to be submitted at the Elite Result Appeals Desk outside the men elite athlete tent along with a Protest Fee of INR 1,000.
c. Where the Technical Delegate makes a decision, the athlete and/or the representative have the right to appeal to the Jury of Appeal. An appeal to the Jury of Appeal must be made at the Elite Result Appeals Desk within 30 minutes –
(i) of the official announcement of the amended result which has been arrived at from the decision by the Referee, or (ii) of informing the person lodging the protest that the results will not be amended.
d. The Jury of Appeal shall deliver its decision within 7 working days of filing the appeal. The decision of the Jury of Appeal shall be final and there shall be no further right of appeal.
e. Where the protest is decided in the favour of the complainant, the Protest Fee will be refunded in full to such complainant within one-week of the decision. Where the protest is decided against the complainant, such Protest Fee will be forfeited in full.
f. The Protests and Appeals for the elite races will be guided by rules given in this document, and the IAAF Competition Rules in force on race day (19th January 2014).
B. Only with respect to results of Marathon and Half Marathon Age Category finish positions:
a. Any confirmed marathon or half marathon runner of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2014 can lodge a protest in relation to the official race results in relation to age category finish positions declared after the race.
b. The Protest Letter, along with a demand draft payable at Mumbai, of INR 1,000 in favour of “Procam International Ltd.” (Protest Fee) must be sent to the following address: Technical Delegate, Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2014, C/o Procam International Ltd., 14, St. James Court, Marine Drive, Mumbai 400 020, India.
c. Only the protest letters received on or before Wednesday, 22nd January 2014, will be entertained.
d. A jury shall deliberate, verify and deliver its decision on the Protest within 7 working days of receiving the Protest Letter.
e. Where the protest is decided in the favour of the complainant, the Protest Fee will be refunded to such complainant, without any deductions, within one-week of the decision. Where the protest is decided against the complainant, such Protest Fee will be forfeited in full.
f. Decision of the jury shall be final and binding on all.
