Mumbai Marathon 2012 has begun.

The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, one of the few full marathons from around the world to enjoy IAAF Gold Label Status, recieved another feather in its hat with the Athletics Fedration Of India granting it "National Status".

"The Athletics Fedration Of India is pleased to inform that the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon has been given National Status. The performance of athletes participating in this Marathon will be considered for selection and participation in international marathons, including the London Olympics 2012," Shri M L Dogra, Director AFI has been quoted as saying in an official letter to Procam International. This status has been conveyed to all the affiliated state units and boards, ensuring the participation of all the Indian long distance athletes in Mumbai.

We would like to inform you that all registered participants of Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2012, who have given their city of residence as either Mumbai or Navi Mumbai on the event entry form, must collect their running number bib, timing chip and goodie bag from the Get Active Expo at the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Bandra (E) Mumbau 400051. Only between Friday, 6th January to Sunday, 8th January 2012, from 11 a.m to 7 p.m.

Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2012

Former Tennis Star and global sporting icon, Vijay Amritraj will be the Event Amabassador for the 9th edition of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, Asia's Largest Marathon, which will be run on January 15th 2012.

Vijay Amritraj has earlier been associated with distance running events promoted by Procam International, being the Event Amabassador for the Delhi Half Marathon in 2006 and World 10k Bangalore in 2008 and will be present in Mumbai from January 12th, 2012 to promote the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon.
