hi seby, running the full marathon is a completely different ball game. according to the break up of your timings given, it looks like you were lacking in endurance as a result you could not sustain your pace after 30km. your mileage per week should be in the range of 90-100kms and train 5-6 times a week. also do some strength training (once or twice a week) for your ham strings and quadriceps. if you need more information you can call me on: 9619968873

savio

hi triza, if you stay in south mumbai, you are welcome to train with me. if not look out for training groups in your locality and join them. they will help you in your training too. in the mean time keep yourself fit by swimming, cycling, do boot camp type of exercises for strength. at least 2 times, you should do core exercises (abdominal and back)run twice or thrice a week around 9kms. do this training till june, then you can gradually get back into your marathon training. regarding your diet, home cooked food is the best. drink plenty of fluids and eat lots of fruits. for any more clarifications you can call me on: 9619968873

Improve half marathon performance
Hi Savio,
I am nearly 63 years old and ran the Mumbai half marathon 2012. I would like to improve my performance which is today just under 3 hrs. I do not have any nutrition before or during the race other then water with the understanding that the body has enough reserves to run for 21km. But I get very tired in the last 5 km. Kindly suggest some measure to enable me to raise my performan to near 2:30 hrs.
Thank you and God Bless.

hi meerasgr, you should ice your shin.you should relax your calf muscle because your calf maybe too tight.any medication you take should be under the advice of a doctor. you can also see a physiotherapist regarding the taping of your shin.
