Hi Parshuran,
Special cross country shoes are available abroad but not in india. We all run using road running shoes. you will need atleast two pairs of raod running shoes. Use them alternately, to dry wipe the shoes with a cotton cloth. Remove the insole and put bat balls of news paper balls and put them in your shoes, keep yous shoes at assn angle against a wall in odder to make them dry fast.
all the best

What should be my target: 21kms in less than 2 hrs or completing the full marathon.
Sir,
I am 45 yrs old and weigh about 75 kgs, ht. 5-8". I have been running the half marathon since 2004. From a timing of about 3 hrs i have been able to reduce it to 2hrs 08 mins last year.
I am now unable to decide whether i should try to run the half in less than 2 hrs or should i try to complete the full marathon? please advise.

Hi Abhi,
You can definitely run the full marathon, you have 5months which is enough time to prepare for it.Your weekly mileage should be atleast 75 to 80kms per week.
if you have any queries regarding your training you can call me- 9619968873

Distance calculator for beginners.
Hello coach,
I am Rajiv Bhatia, aged 47 yrs from mumbai. After my schools where i used to take part in running events, I have never ran any race in my life. Running is an activity I enjoy and i feel very relaxed and at peace after a run in the morning. However I have never calculated the distance that I run. Sir, it may sound very silly, but how should I calculate the time & distance that I run in the morning. Should I buy a pedometer or a watch or any other gadget to find that out. If yes plz guide me a simple and reasonable priced and the make that I need to buy. I registered in procamrunning a week back. Eagerly awaiting for your reply. Please excuse my ignorance in this matter, but after going through this site, I am really excited to take part in an event in the near future. My email is : rbhatia_spectrum@yahoo.com
Best regards,
Rajiv Bhatia

hi Imzi,
I think you should consult a dietitian to control your weight. You should do runs of 15kms, 20kms, 10kms. Once a week run 25kms and once in fifteen days run 30kms if the intend to run the 42km or full marathon. In case of any clarification feel free to contact me- 9619968873

hi prasad, it think that since this is your first time running the marathon, you should first focus on completing the race and then on competing with others. you could join running group so that you could get advice from the coach and other experienced runners.

hi mahesh, you will have to train twice a day, 6 days a week. your weekly mileage should be at least 180-200kms a week. you need to improve your speed and speed endurance. you will have to run your 21km in 1:05- 1:06 hours. if you want to clock 2:20 hours in the full marathon, you will have to train under a very good long distance coach. for other clarifications you can call me on: 9619968873

Shin Pain
Dear Sir, I experience a little pain around the inside of the my right shin bone. The pain subsides after I am some 10 min into the run. I run at most for an hour and cover a distance of around 10K. I run only alternate days. The pain is not severe and I am only reminded of it when I start running. Is there any cause to worry?

hi jammykumar, the pain you are experiencing is the shin-splits. it develops because of excess stress on the lower leg muscles or wearing ill fitting footwear. deep calf muscles cramping up or becomeing stiff also causes it. ice you shin at least 3-4 times a day. if it continues see a sports doctor. regards, savio
