Running Shoe Recommendations
Hello Coach,

Can you please suggest a few options for a good pair of running shoes? I am looking at buying a new pair. Have participated in four half marathons (3 ADHM, 1 SCMM), most recently the ADHM 2013.

What parameters should one look at when buying running shoes? What do the Elite runners wear?

Look forward to your inputs.

Thanks,
Kanav

HOW TO RUN FOR LONGER PERIODS WITHOUT A BREAK OR WALKING
I have been running in SCMM half marathon. My problem is that I cannot run continuously for long time. After 15 minutesn of continuous running i have to walk for few minutes and again start running - this is resulting in more time than I expected.
Is it due to breathing technique or insufficient stamina - how to improve and run for longer time - kindly advise

Hi Vithal,

I looks like your stamina is low. You may also be starting your runs a bit too fast, and as a result cannot sustain the pace. Join a running group in your area, since it is always easier to run in groups.

Dear Manish,

Always stretch well before and after your runs. You have to also strengthen your abdomen and back muscles and also get your glutel muscles and I.T band loosened. Another reason for your pain could be your bad running posture, so ensure that your posture is correct, and that your shoes are not worn out. If the pain continues then see a sports doctor.

Home cooked food is the best.Try to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Also try to include multi vitamins into your diet. Ask your doctor to recommend them.

Hi Charu,
f you want to run the full marathon (in good time), you will have to train at least 5 times a week. I have put up a training program on the procam site. It should help you. If you want, you can come train with me if you stay in south Mumbai, if not, you can join another running group. You can contact me on my mobile- 9619968873
